It started with a bag of bar nuts

I was in the supermarket and spotted the bar nuts of a well-known — and pricier — brand on sale. Four bags for the price of two, something like that. A good moment, I figured, to finally try the different flavors. So I did.

A few months later the nuts were long gone and I was back in the same aisle, thinking I'd pick up some more. But it had been so long that I could no longer remember which of those flavors I'd actually liked.

And I thought: I wish I'd written it down somewhere.

That's Evenstar.

You already write reviews. Just not for yourself.

You buy something, and the shop asks you to review it so they can show it to other people. The text disappears into their database, and you — the author — will most likely never see it again. Every review you write ends up owned by whoever asked for it.

Evenstar turns that around. You review everything you experience — a film, a restaurant, a holiday, a bag of bar nuts — and it all lands in one place that belongs to you.

Because let's be honest: if there is one person who knows what you like, it's you.

What it does

  • A review in under a minute

    A title, a rating and a few words is already a complete review. Add photos if you want them, tags if they help, and save it as a draft if you're not done.

  • Find it back months later

    Search every word you wrote — titles, text, categories and tags at once. Filter by category, tag, rating or period, and sort the results the way you want them.

  • Organized the way you want

    Categories nest (Films → Sci-Fi → The Matrix) and tags group across them, so a book and a film can share the same tag. You build both yourself: a new journal starts empty and takes the shape you give it.

  • Yours, and only yours

    No account, no sign-up. Your reviews, photos and tags stay on your device. Export your whole journal to a single file whenever you want, and import it back on another phone.

  • Share one if you feel like it

    Turn a review into a card for your stories or your chat — square, portrait or full screen — carrying exactly as much as you choose to put on it.

  • Free and paid

    Everything Evenstar does is free to use, for your first 20 reviews. A subscription lifts that limit. No feature is locked away, so you can try the whole app before you decide.

What you write never leaves your phone

Titles, review text, ratings, tags and pictures are stored on your device and are never uploaded to us. There is no account, so there is nothing tied to your name. The app does report anonymous usage and crash data so it can be improved — counts, broad bands and yes/no answers, never a word you wrote.
